Description

This very pretty Edwardian silver cocktail purse was made by the very collectable silversmith Henry Matthews. Or rounded rectangular form, both sides embossed in the sought-after "Green man" pattern, complete with birds of paradise and foliate sprays. Both with a vacant cartouche. The push button clasp opening to reveal the original green moire silk compartmentalised interior. The sides fitted with a chain and suspension ring to allow a lady to hold her purse while dancing or holding her cocktail glass.

H.M for Henry Matthews.
Date letter "d" for 1903.
Birmingham Assay mark.
Lion passant.
Dimensions:
Width: 8cm / 3 inches.
Height: 5.5cm / 2 inches.
Condition:
Good.
Interior a little frayed but very good for its age.
