Description
This very pretty Edwardian silver cocktail purse was made by the very collectable silversmith Henry Matthews. Or rounded rectangular form, both sides embossed in the sought-after "Green man" pattern, complete with birds of paradise and foliate sprays. Both with a vacant cartouche. The push button clasp opening to reveal the original green moire silk compartmentalised interior. The sides fitted with a chain and suspension ring to allow a lady to hold her purse while dancing or holding her cocktail glass.Hallmarks:

Date letter "d" for 1903.
Birmingham Assay mark.
Lion passant.
