Description

This is an exquisite and rare Georgian Ketchup condiment bottle. The slender Bristol blue glass body with gilded name label. Fitted with the original gilded blue glass ball stopper. The neck with a folded rim.
Ketchup was a popular condiment in the early 19th Century. It was however a different condiment than it is now. It was more likely to have been made from walnuts, mushrooms or anchovies than tomatoes and sugar.
Dimensions:
Height: 12.5cm / 5 inches.
Base Diameter: 3cm / 1 inches.
Condition:
Excellent, no chips or cracks, some minor rubbing to the gilding as shown. No restoration.
