This stunning and rather rare 19th C. French Palais Royal blue opaline glass casket dates circa 1870. The rich blue opaline glass egg with a central ormulu hinge. The top embellished by a gilt leaf. The egg mounted a beautiful bronze dore tripod satnd applied with leaves.Palais Royal is a term used to describe, not a single manufacturer, but to a name given to a small area around the Royal Palace that specialised in producing small elaborate works of art and gifts in the 18th and 19th centuries.
