This stunning George V silver silver lidded opalescent vaseline uranium glass preserve jar was made in Birmingham 1917 by the reputed silversmith George Unite. The plain silver lid fitted on a gorgeous baluster body with green and milky white staves spiralling to the top. The lid with a loop finial and slot for the spoon. The solid silver spoon with matching finial by George Unite also dated Birmingham 1917.

This exquisite silver pin cushion modelled as a basket was made circa 1800. These early pin cushions are quite scarce hence very desirable. The filigree work is very delicate and the basket is fitted with a rope-twist articulated handle. The base with conforming decorations. The green velvet cushion, later replaced, is most probably Victorian.

This rare and exquisite early 19th Century French provincial silver "tastevin" or wine taster dates circa 1840. It is of shallow circular form with trailing fruiting vine decorations and snake ring handle. Both base and side hallmarked. Engraved with owner's name on the side of the bow, as was very often the case.

This charming George III curved silver snuff box was made in Birmingham 1812 by the toy makers* Joseph Willmore. Of rounded rectangular form, the flush cover bright-engraved with an acorn wreath surrounding an initialled oval reserve, the back and sides with prick-dot decorations. The beautifully executed flush hinged cover opening to reveal the original pale gilt interior.
* From the late 18th to early 19th Century, Birmingham was the centre for the making of “toys”: small decorative objects from silver. They were produced in small family businesses and factories throughout Birmingham. They made a range of items including patch boxes, nutmeg graters, buckles, caddy spoons, vinaigrettes, snuff boxes and babies rattles.
