This delightful solid silver bookmark was made by the prolific silversmiths Adie & Lovekin and is dated Birmingham 1907. It is modelled as a trowel and has a very pretty embossed handle. The blade fully hallmarked. Adie & Lovekin made unique silver items during the late Victorian era and the early part od the 20th Century. Their speciality being, pin cushions, babies rattles, bookmarks, nurses buckles and other numerous novelty silver items.

This unusual and elegant small Art Deco silver and shagreen handled magnifying glass was made by the renowned Mappin & Webb and is dated Birmingham 1928. The shagreen handle mounted with a 5cm diameter steel mount inset with magnifying glass. The front of the handle inset with a beautiful jade green shagreen. The back plain silver. A very elegant and timeless piece.

This is a superb and complete travelling perfume bottle set. The tooled maroon leather casket opening to reveal a satin and velvet interior and fitted with two Grand tour ormulu glass scent bottles. The domed lid with brass strap-work decorations.

The pair of 19th Century French ormulu mounted clear glass scent bottle are beautiful. Each square shaped glass body with ormulu lattice work collar. The conforming bronze dore hinged lid inset with a tinted print of a Paris monument. Opens to reveal the original clear glass stopper. Smooth pontil base.

This exquisite and unusual Georgian silver patch box dates circa 1790. Of circular form, the pull-off cover with intricate filigree decorations surrounding a vacant roundel. The sides with filigree decorations and the back plain. It is unmarked as was very common in the Georgian era with small items of vertu.

Unmarked but tested as silver.

Condition:

Very good. No dings, no dents.

This beautiful Georgian silver snuff box is dated Birmingham 1827 and was made by the renowned Thomas Shaw, who was part of the "toy making" fraternity . Of conventional rectangular form, the front with vacant cartouche and the back with an engine-turned background. The hinged cover with a raised thumb piece and engined-turned borders. The sides embossed with foliate decorations. Opening to reveal the original rich gilt interior. Excellent silver gauge, feels heavy when picked up.

* from the late 18th to early 19th Century, Birmingham was the centre for the making of “toys”: small decorative objects from silver. They were produced in small family businesses and factories throughout Birmingham. They made a range of items including patch boxes, nutmeg graters, buckles, caddy spoons, vinaigrettes, snuff boxes and babies rattles.

Fitted with the original blue glass liner and sold with a very well matched sterling silver mustard spoon by John Round, dated Sheffield 1909.

This very elegant George VI silver vase-shaped sugar caster is dated Birmingham 1938 and bears the marks of the Barker Brothers. Modelled on early George II casters (circa 1730) the baluster body with a detachable pierced cover. The cover with baluster finial and alternating vertical bands of decorative piercing. Raised on a circular pedestal base.
