Description
This is a delightful 18th Century South Staffordshire Bilston * enamel patch box. The unusual cover has a dark blue and rich purple sunburst design charmingly heightened with white enamel dot decorations. The hinged lid opening to reveal the original glass. The glass is undamaged but the lead for the mirror has disintegrated to a fine dust inside the glass. White enamel interior. The base a rich blue enamel colour.Dimensions:
Length: 4.5cm / 1.7 inches.
Width: 3cm / 1.2 inches.
Height: 2cm / 0.6 inches.
Condition:
In very good condition for this type of object.
Minor grazing, commensurate with age.
Original glass not cracked, lead mirror reduced to a fine dust.
Good strong hinge.
