Description

This fabulous and early George II silver mote spoon dates circa 1730 and bears the marks of the specialist spoon maker Marmaduke Daintrey. Very often marks on mote spoons are unclear, so it is wonderful to be able to identify the maker. The bowl pierced with scrolls and cross lets. Bottom marked.
Hallmarks:
MD surmounted by a crown for Marmaduke Daintrey, this is his early hallmark, dating the spoon to circa 1730.

Very good bowl with no loss to pierced decorations.
Clear maker's marks.
Minute split on the edge of one of the crosslets, barely noticeable, mentioned for accuracy.
