Description

This is an exquisite early George III silver cream jug. The baluster body embossed with the original pastoral scenes depicting a milkmaid milking a cow and a swan on a pond within a bucolic setting. The front cartouche engraved with the original Georgian initials.
Pinched rim and pale gilt interior.
Raised on a hollow pedestal base with matching pinched decorations.
Hallmarks:
Maker's marks indistinct.
London Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "A:" for 1776.
Dimensions:
Height (up to handle): 11cm / 4.3 inches.
Length (spout to handler) : 9.5cm / 3.6 inches.
Diameter: 6cm / 2.5 inches.
Condition:
Very good. No splits, dents or repairs. The jug sits firmly on its base.
