Description
This elegant solid silver column candlesticks were made by John Le Gallais and are dated London 1894. Each with a fluted octagonal base leading to a similarly decorated tapered stem with an acanthus leaf border. The urn sockets with conforming decorations and having removable octagonal nozzles.Loaded bases with green baize. Full hallmarks struck to the side of each base and struck to the sleeve of each capital.
Hallmarks:
Maker's marks somewhat rubbed but identifiable as J.L.G for John Le Gallais.
London Assay mark.
Lion passant.
Date letter "T" for 1894.
Condition:
Reasonable to good.
No dents but dIngs around the bases, commensurate with age.
Some light surface scratching to the nozzles.
Condition is reflected in the price and does not detract from the elegance of the candlesticks.
