This exquisite and rather unusual Georgian silver tape measure dates circa 1820. The cylindrical body decorated with a fine honeycomb pattern. The winding mechanism functioning, the tape a lttle frayed at palces making the winding and unwinding a little tricke, One needs to be patient and gentle. The turquoise silk tape unwinds to a length of 10 inches by being holding onto the side of the tape measure and pulling gently on the tape extremity. It can be wound back by turning the top cover clockwise. it is a wonderful example in excellent condition.
Hallmarks:
Unmarked as is practically always the case with small vertu items, but tested as silver.

Height: 1.8cm / 0.7 inches.
Diameter: 1.5cm / 0.4 inches.

Good.
